We are addictions clinicians who, aside from our paid roles, provide a free to use advisory, signposting and referral service on any aspect of addiction: substance and behavioural.
When you call you will be speaking directly with a clinican who has decades of experience in assessing, diagnosing, prescribing for and treating people caught up in addiction.
We are here to listen: not judge.
Our clinician will ask you some questions to determine the nature of the problem so they can signpost you to the most appropriate service.
Using our database we can advise you which service is the most appropriate for you, at the lowest cost possible (unless you want a high end centre).
Because we have the clinical experience of working in this field of healthcare we can advise you as to what you need: and what you don't.
If you opt for private treatment we can refer you, without charge, to that service who will contact you: within the hour, if not sooner.
For local authority funded free to use services they are unable to accept 3rd party referrals but we will give you the contact phone numbers, email addresses and physical location.
Should you opt for private treament, we recieve a nominal fee that allows us to maintain our website and database.
What questions will your clinician ask me?
As with any medical issue there are questions which a clinician needs to ask to determine the problem.
When someone calls asking for help with an addiction, in order to know where to signpost you to, it is essential to understand some essential elements of the situation.
It may be that you don't need treatment or that you are in need of immediate medical attention from the ambulance service: Every call is different.
Usually we will ask the following when it comes to substance based addictions:
* The substance you are taking
* How long you have been taking it for
* How you take it (smoke, snort, inject,etc)
* The amount you spend on it (this helps to clarify the amount you are taking
* The strength of the alcohol you are drinking
* Pattern of use (hourly, daily, weekly, etc)
* Identifiable stressors (divorce, work related, bereavment,etc)
* Underlying medical conditions
* Existing medication
*Previous treatment
*Last detox
For behavioural addictions:
* Nature of addiction (porn, shopping, sex, etc)
* The amount of time it is taking out of your day
* The effect your addiction is having on your everyday life
* What happens if you can not access the activity that fuels your addiction (no money for shopping addiction,etc)
*Previous treatment
Does my GP need to know?
That is a decision for yourself.
We won't ask you for your GP details.
It is always advisable to inform your GP and ensure they are onboard with any treatment decision you make.
If you choose to use local authority funded free to use services you will have to share your GP details before you can start treatment.
Private centres will ask for your GP details as they are obliged, should there be concerns if you leave treatment abruptly, to inform them.
Can you signpost me to private at home treatment?
Where appropriate: Yes.
The best chance of recovery is always in rehab.
Why? Because rehab provides the essential elements needed for recovery:
* Detox (if needed)
* Group therapy
* Relapse prevention
* Aftercare
Treatment at home is limited for safety reasons. There is a slightly wider scope with outpatient treatment.
Every case is based on its own merits.
There are some automatic exclusions for reasons of clinical safety.
It is usually far more cost effective to have residential treatment than treatment at home.
We do not recieve any commission if we refer you for treatment at home.
Can you provide advice and guidance on mental health and eating disorders?
Yes.
Our clinicians have experience in both mental health as well as addictions.
One of our clinicians has extensive experience with eating disorder treatment having worked in this area in three well known London based private eating disorders services.
We are more than happy to signpost you to services most appropriate to you.
Is Find Me a Rehab a referral service?
Yes, but not your typical one!
We provide a free referral service using our clinical knowledge and experience ensuring you are referred only for what you actually need.
As with any sector of private healthcare, there is a gap between clinical need and treatments that are not essential. These are known as "bolt on" treatments.
For addiction rehab all you really need are four elements of treatment:
* Detox
* Group therapy
* Relapse prevention
* Aftercare
If you want a high end luxury service we can signpost you to one but your recovery will be just the same at a local lower cost centre.
If you decide that you do want treatment and book yourself in a nominal commission is paid to us.
This enables us to fund the cost of running the website:

Should you approach a private service, directly, you would not be able to negotiate a reduced rate. Using our signposting service does not increase the fees you pay.

Q: Is this a free to use service?
A: Yes. We make absolutelty no charge for advice, signposting or referrals
Q: Do you keep my details?
A: We do maintain a spreadsheet which can only be accessed on one terminal which is secured by two passwords.
Nothing is ever printed out. If you don't want your details kept, please ask the clinician you speak to and no record of your enquiry will be kept.
You are welcome, at any time, to call and ask for any information held about you to be removed and/or sent to you (via secure email).
Q: Do you inform my GP?
A: No. We won't ask you who your GP is as we will not be treating you.
Q: Are you a referral service?
A: Yes but with a difference. The person you will be speaking to is a very experienced addictions clinician and not a salesperson
Q: If I am signposted to a private service and book treatment, do Find Me a Rehab recieve a commission?
A: Yes. This enables us to continue to provide this service as there are significant costs associated with website hosting and optimisation.
Q: Do you have sales targets?
A: No. We are clinicians who provide this aside from our full time roles.
Q: Are you registered with the Information Commissoners Office?

What experience do your clinicians have?
We have two clinicians.

Anyone can call, email or Whattsap for advice. You don’t need to give your name and you can call from a private number.
We provide this service in addition to our paid roles.
How do you finance the help line and website?
We signpost to local authority (free to use) services, charities, 3rd sector providers, private hospitals and private rehab centres as well as private outpatient services.
If you decide that you want to use a private rehab service a small fee is paid to Find Me a Rehab which helps to pay for the upkeep of the website and phone line.
We provide this service in addition to our paid roles. This is not our source of income. We have full time jobs.
Why does Find Me a Rehab signpost to low cost services?
Wernicke-Korsakoff is a serious medical condition that is a form of dementia caused, 99% of the time, due to excessive consumption of alcohol. In essence, Alcohol prevents the body from absorbing vitamin B1, which can have catastrophic and life long changes to the brain.Alcohol prevents thiamine from being absorbed properly in the gastro intestinal tract, stops it from being absorbed properly in the body, and increases the amount of thiamine that is excreted in urine. This devastating condition has two, distinct, separate stages:
Firstly, there will be a brief period where the person has intense swelling on the brain: This is Wernicke’s encephalopathy.
Secondly, if this first stage is left untreated, Korsakoff’s syndrome develops. This, irreversible condition, has many of the same symptoms as dementia.
Around 25% of those with Wernicke’s who access the appropriate medical care will make a good recovery. 50% will make a partial recovery and be able to live with some social care support. However, the remaining 25% will need lifelong care, normally in a residential care setting.Do you have sales targets?

Can I detox at home?
Possibly.
An at home alcohol detox is not available to everyone.
Safety is, always the, primary focus and an at home alcohol detox carries some risks which can not be mitigated.
The criteria for an at home alcohol detox is quite restrictive.
Normally, to be considered for a home alcohol detox you need to be:
- Drinking less than 30 units a day
- Not had a detox within the last six months
- No history of alcohol related alcohol withdrawal seizures
- Absence of certain prescribed medications/street drugs
- In good physical health
- Have an adult, over the age of 18, to supervise (24/7) for the first few days and then at regular intervals for the rest of the week
Do you provide treatments such as Ayhuasca or Ibogaine?
No.
Ibogaine and Ayahuasca are neither safe, legal or available in the United Kingdom.
Neither of these treatments are safe and we would not recommend them.
We are aware of the centers that provide these treatments in Portugal and South America but we will not provide a referral as these treatments are dangerous.
