Residential Rehab Centre UK

Our addictions clinicians work in residential rehab centres across the UK. While they might not work at the one you want to go to they can advise you on what to expect, what treatment you might need and what a treatment plan will consist of. We are here to give you advice and signpost you to a rehab centre that will give you what you need: Not what you don’t need. Our advice (and a referral) is free of charge.
Treatment at home is sometimes appropriate but this is the exception to the rule. Clinical safety overrules desire and the outcomes for treatment at home can be very disappointing. It can also cost far more than residential treatment.
Residential Rehab Centre UK
Addiction treatment has been around for nearly hundred years. While there are new approaches and new medications the essential elements remain the same. Organic herbal tea, stroking lamas and chanting sessions are all very nice but will not provide you with the recovery you need.
A rehab centre that can provide a safe and properly supervised detox (if you need one) group therapy and weekly individual sessions, together with relapse prevention sessions and a minimum of a years aftercare is what you need.
Rehab is hard work. There will be gaps in the day to rest and reflect, but it means a real commitment from you to explore why you became addicted, deal with cravings and build your skill set for when you go out in the world after you complete treatment.
Why Do I Need Residential Rehab?
In the same way that some procedures and illnesses can only be treated in a hospital so addiction can only be treated in a rehab centre. There are a few caveats to that but for the majority, the only place to get the right help is in a residential rehab centre.
A lot of people call and ask about a home detox. For safety reasons, this is not widely available and most people are excluded due to the medication they are taking, too short a gap between detoxes, medical history of amount of alcohol/drugs being used.

Treatment at home, when done safely, will cost you more than a low cost, fully staffed and registered rehab centre. Our clinicians always go to great lengths to steer people away from companies that illegally sell pills in the post for home detox.
You will pay £1,900 for £15 of pills without any safeguards. In any event, without therapy to work out why you are addicted, learning the skills necessary to prevent relapse (or deal with it should it happen) you will, very likely, fall off the wagon very quickly. Home treatment companies do not provide any aftercare.
What Happens In Residential Rehab?
On arrival, you will be seen by an addictions clinician who will go over the pre-admission assessment. He/she will ask you some questions so as to know what medication you need for your detox or to support you through withdrawals.
Nursing/support staff will monitor you, at regular intervals, for the first few days while medication is provided. As your detox tapers off this monitoring will also reduce. If there are any concerns they will liase with the clinician who may want to check in with you to adjust your treatment plan.
As soon as you are physically able to do so, you will join the therapy sessions which are centred around group therapy. Every rehab centre, across the world, is grounded around a group model based on the 12 STEPS, SMART or an eclectic model. It really doesn’t matter which model is used. What is important is that you get into recovery.
Centres usually offer a weekly individual therapy session to augment the group model. Therapy is designed to help you explore as to why you became addicted. Addiction is not a choice but a consequence. It could be unresolved childhood trauma, PTSD or another untreated condition or dependency on prescribed medication that has become unmanageable.
Those in treatment, with the aid of therapists, will learn how to prevent a relapse and how to deal with relapse: Should the worst happen. All centres also offer a minimum of a years aftercare.

Why Do People Need a Detox?
A detox has nothing to do with “flushing toxins out your body” but everything to do with brain chemistry.
Alcohol and drugs, just as prescribed medications and caffeine, work on receptors in your brain. They either open or close (or partially open or close) chemical channels leading to a release or slow down of naturally occurring chemicals.
If you use alcohol and drugs, continuously, over a period of time, your brain will become accustomed to their presence. If you stop suddenly (or reduce too quickly) your brain will not be able to adjust in a flash. Chemical signalling will be askew hence withdrawal is experienced. For some addictions the symptoms can be short lived and mild: For others they can be incredibly dangerous, if not fatal.

Please don’t let anyone tell you that detox can be done at home with just a bucket, a roll of andrex and a bottle of Evian: It can’t. Our clinicians, while working in accident and emergency departments have seen the results of such an approach: It can lead to fatality.
In most cases A+E, because the NHS are not funded to treat addiction, will discharge you with advice to carry on taking drugs/alcohol. There duty of care is only to what is reasonable. If you are not at immediate risk, they are not responsible for you.
Even if you were able to detox yourself the cravings you will experience can be so overwhelming that it is very likely you will succumb to them. The danger there is that your brain will have lost tolerance to the drug/alcohol. As you are likely to use more than you need to , in an attempt to settle yourself, you are at extreme risk of overdose.
How Can Find Me a Rehab Help?
We are addictions clinicians. Our role is to give advice and make referrals (for which we do not charge). How long you might need to go to rehab for, what you can expect, how much it might cost you: any question you have we will endeavour to answer.
As our clinicians work across various settings including:
- Private rehab centres
- Private hospitals
- Local authority statutory services
- NHS commissioned services
- GP shared care clinics
- Prisons
there is always someone free to take your call. In the rare event there isn’t when someone does become free they will call you (or email, if you prefer).
The clinician you speak to may not work at the centre you are interested in or may be in a different part of the country but , as we said above: Addiction is addiction. They will give you the advice you need to seek the treatment that is right for you. Our clinicians are solely interested in signposting you to the most appropriate centre: Nothing else.
Why Does Find Me a Rehab Provide This Free Service?
The referral sector is not a regulated market. As such there are some bad actors on the scene who care solely about how much commission they can earn. For example the largest referral company in the UK ADT-HEALTHCARE LTD filing history – Find and update company information – GOV.UK has over £6,000,000 in assets and earned over £2,000,000 in the last financial year: Solely by referring people into rehab centres. Commissions of up to 50% are not unusual.
Other companies conjuror up wholly fictitious websites for rehab centres that do not exist. They do this so they can sell your details on to reputable centres. Alcohol & Drug Rehabilitation in Surrey | Lifeline By taking a picture off Rightmove and one from a private gym a façade is created.
The owner previously ran two rehab centers Fines of £60,780 issued following the CQC prosecution of an unlawful substance misuse service based in Liverpool – Care Quality Commission and continued to advertise them for two years, after they were closed down. Trading illegally using companies in liquidation, this was so callers details could be sold on. Excuses such as the centres were full or had a long waiting list were common. The owner lives in Thailand.

As with the company directly above, Success Is A Choice Not An Outcome: Greek Fraudster Destroyed Via Email this referral agent (who also lives abroad) , as is common in the sector, spends vast sums on serviced offices solely to gain post box addresses. These are then used to make it look as if they have rehab centres across the UK: They don’t. Again, this is so your details can be sold on.
If you speak with a referral agent you will be speaking to someone, usually working from their kitchen table, who is not clinically trained and who has, probably, never even been to visit a rehab centre. They have sales targets to meet and every call is scrutinised by the company owner to see why you haven’t paid a rehab center to go in for treatment. It is not unknown for referral agents to invoice a rehab centre within minutes of your arrival.

Is This Service Confidential?
Yes. We are registered with the Information Commissioners Office. We can only ever discuss you with someone you give expressed permission for us to speak with: This includes your GP. We can not obtain information for anyone else connected with your treatment unless you give written permission.
As we are here to advise, only, we have no contact with your rehab centre once you are admitted. As such we can not give updates to anyone who contacts us.
