Detoxing at home is available for those who are alcohol dependent, where the client is drinking 30 units of alcohol a day, or less. There are certain criteria that are also applicable, in line with clinical guidelines issued by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
Treatment at home is also available, on a case-by-case basis, from our consultant psychiatrist, for other dependencies:
It is not possible to provide treatment at home for opioids, benzodiazepines, Gabapentin/Pregabalin, painkillers, GHB/GBL, or Ketamine.
Treatment at home is not for everyone. It can not provide the structure and support of a residential treatment center but is an alternative option for those who fit the criteria.

Essentially, those who may be enrolled in a home treatment program do not have:
To be eligable, it is a requirement that the client has a support person, at home, for the duration of the initial phase and, in any event, at least for the first three to five days.
Our service uses a consultant psychiatrist who is on the specialism register
with the General Medical Council (addictions specialist). He will assess the client, and if appropriate, provide a treatment plan and medication.
A history of alcohol-related seizures
Current prescription for benzodiazepines,anti convulsants,anti psychotics and certain other medications
Any previous treatments within the last six months.
