A dangerous designer drug
Cychlorphine is an extremely potent opioid that is over two hundred times stronger than heroin.
Since it was first discovered to have flooded the UK drugs market, it has already been connected with nearly twenty deaths.
The problem is now so dire that two London boroughs are opening centres where people can have their drugs tested, before they take them, because of the danger of Cychlorphine.
Cychlorphine is illegal to manufacture, sell and possess.
It has never been licenced for human use and can not be prescribed: Either on the NHS or privately.

Cychlorphine
What is Cychlorphine?
It is not Morphine, despite having a similar name.
Cychlorphine is an entirely synthetic opioid made in a laboratory.
Unlike Fentanyl it will not show up on a drug test.
Because it is so new there is very little, if any, research on this drug.

Cychlorphine
What does Cychlorphine do to the body?
Cychlorphine is an opioid so sits on opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord.
The receptors react to the presence of of Cychlorphine by opening up chemical channels and releasing naturally occurring bodily chemicals.
A sense of euphoria is felt.
As an opioid, the drug will also block pain signals in the same way as Morphine or any other opioid.
The drug is extremely short acting. After a dose, within two hours, more than 50% of the drug will have been eliminated.
This means that you need to continually take it to maintain the effect.
When you take it the drug will reach it's peak effect in fifteen minutes.
It will only show up on a specialist drugs test and then only for up to three days after the drug is used.
Cychlorphine binds, very strongly, to opioid receptors meaning that it will remove opioids already attached to receptors.
This makes it a very dangerous drug.

Cychlorphine
What happens if you mix Cychlorphine with other drugs?
Cychlorphine is cheap to produce.
Because it is cheap dealers will mix it in with other drugs, such as cocaine and heroin.
If you find yourself struggling with withdrawal, cychlorphine addiction detox rehab could help you regain control.
There is no such thing as an reputable dealer.
Even if you stick to one dealer there is no assurance that what you buy one day will be the same as what you buy the next day.
Mixing any opioid with alcohol or other drugs or certain prescription medication is dangerous enough.
When you mix Cychlorphine you are putting yourself at extreme risk.
Cychlorphine has been responsible for fatalities.
While using it alone is dangerous enough, using it in tandem with other drugs and alcohol, as well as certain prescribed medications, poses risks that go off the scale.

Can the effects of Cychlorphine be reversed?
Currently, there is no known reversal agent for Cychlorphine.
Naloxone, the emergency drug given to reverse the effects of opioids has a very limited effect on Cychlorphine.
If it were to be effective it would require very large doses over a prolonged period.
However, there is virtually no research, to date, on this.

Cychlorphine
Why is Cychlorphine addictive?
When you use opioids, they sit on receptors in the brain (and spinal cord.)
Opioids cause the brain to release naturally occurring chemicals which is what causes the blocking of pain signals as well as a feeling of euphoria.
If you keep taking them, the brain will become accustomed to the presence of opioids and will alter the way it process signals caused by the drug when it sits on receptors.
This is known as tolerance. Once of the effects of tolerance is that you will need ever increasing amounts of the drug to have the same effect as the amount you first started taking.
If you stop taking an opioid suddenly, or reduce too quickly, the brain simply won't be able to cope and will fire off incorrect chemical messaging.
This is what causes what are known as withdrawals.
Withdrawing from opioids can be fatal.
Symptoms will start within hours.
Without medical intervention, using an opioid substitute to replace the opioid and reduce, safely, over a period of time (detox) you will experience overwhelming cravings.

What about home treatment for Cychlorphine addiction?
No.
This is not possible.
Cyclorphine addiction can only be treated in a rehab centre using a substitute opioid as part of a medical detox.
Home treatment would only be available with 24/7 medical and nursing supervision which would be cost prohibitive.
Therapy
All centers who provide treatment for heroin and opioid addiction provide a fully immersive therapy programme, either along a 12 step approach or a SMART based recovery model. These run seven days a week and , those in treatment, are obliged to attend all sessions if physically well enough to do so. For new admissions, it can be 24-48 hours , on occasion, before someone is able to take part.
Sitting alongside this programme, many centers also offer adjunctive treatments and therapies such as:
Yoga
Mindfulness
Art therapy
Gentle exercise and group walks
Music therapy
Individual sessions (for those staying more than a week)
Clients, before leaving, are linked in with support groups in their local community, be they voluntary or statutory. A psychological tool kit is built up so that clients have a selection of techniques to employ.
