What happens in rehab treatment?
Whichever rehab centre you choose you can be assured of a warm and welcoming, non-judgemental reception. Most of the staff will, themselves, be in recovery for some years and, while everyone’s experience of addiction and recovery is different, there unique experience really helps. Depending on the situation, you may be seen by a clinician and prescribed medication to help you safely detox. In addition, the therapy team will introduce themselves and provide you with your therapy timetable. If you have any religious or dietary requirements, the catering team will be pleased to assist you.
There will be a morning meeting, where the community comes together, and any housekeeping issues can be raised. At the end of the day, there is also a closing meeting though there are often 12 step meetings in the evenings if you are following a 12-step plan. The day consists of group work, individual therapy (if applicable), and bolt on therapies such as drumming therapy, art therapy, yoga, relaxation, etc
The most important element of treatment is planning for discharge. All centres provide a minimum of 12 months aftercare where clients are encouraged to attend (virtually or in person) a group, at least once a week.
Can I go and visit the centre before making a decision?
This depends on the centre. So do facilitate this as making the right choice is essential though others do not encourage this as it can be disruptive to the therapeutic environment. Many have YouTube channels where prospective clients can have a virtual tour. To find a rehab centre UK call and speak to Findmearehab. We provide 24-hour addiction advice. Are visitors allowed while I am in treatment?
Some centres will allow visitors after a period, and this depends on the centre protocols. Our clinicians can advise on this so please do ask.

Legalising Drugs Doesn’t Work
Legalising drugs doesn't work. If someone invented alcohol today, they would certainly ban it. Indeed, many argue that legalizing drugs fails for this very reason. Furthermore, the NHS spends billions every year treating illnesses caused by alcohol. For some, the evidence appears clear that legalising drugs doesn't work and cannot resolve these health issues. Ultimately,…
