Is it possible to get Free Clinician Drug Advice? Yes. Our experienced addictions clinicians do not charge for advice or for making referrals. Whomever is free will take your call (or answer your email). As our clinicians work in private rehabs, private hospitals, NHS commissioned services, GP shared care provisions as well as statutory services there is always someone available to offer Free Clinician Drug Advice.

Why do we provide this? Our clinicians are committed to providing ethical care. Private addiction treatment doesn’t need to cost the earth, yet the internet is awash with salespeople and chains trying to maximise their bottom line. When you have the advice of a clinician on a treatment plan, you can make a more informed decision meaning costs can be kept as low as possible. The key benefit of seeking Free Clinician Drug Advice is cost efficiency combined with quality insights.

What Advice Can a Clinician Give?

Addiction is a serious illness. It is not something that should be approached on the advice of someone who works in a call center with sales targets. While some of those who work in the referral sector have lived experience of addiction, they lack the clinical knowledge to give accurate advice like a clinician would, especially when it comes to giving free drug advice.

Not everyone who calls needs treatment. Our clinicians will be quite honest in their expert opinion. Sometimes, it is just some reassurance you need. You may not need any treatment or it may be more appropriate to signpost you to local statutory services for free treatment. This is another aspect where advice from clinicians becomes invaluable.

What seems problematic to you could be something quite straightforward and there may be no need for medical intervention. The reason why we provide this service is to ensure people do not get caught out as they do with those companies who provide illegal treatment.

What is Illegal Addiction Treatment?

While the Care Quality Commission (CQC) are legally responsible for registering and inspecting rehab centers, they can not be everywhere, all the time. Sometimes, centers slip through the net as with We Do Recover and We Do Recover in Liverpool. Fines of £60,780 issued following the CQC prosecution of an unlawful substance misuse service based in Liverpool – Care Quality Commission

There are also companies who advertise home detox for addiction. The rules around this are somewhat complex. In short, only a medical doctor (with an entry on the specialist register for addictions) can provide this service without registration with the CQC on one condition: The doctor must work in a registered addiction service as their main employment. They are then free to provide private addiction treatment without separate CQC registration.

When an addictions doctor provides treatment under this exemption they must provide the assessment, take payment and provide all aspects of care. As soon as someone else gets involved then CQC registration is needed to uphold standards.

Home detox companies (mostly alcohol related) will charge you in excess of £1850 for £15 worth of pills. They will not provide home visits, aftercare or ethical medical care. Usually you will be assessed and prescribed medication by a non medical prescriber (nurse/pharmacist) which is illegal in this context. At this time, there are no companies, registered with the CQC, to provide home detox. Thus the only way it can be done is under the exemption above or through a private GP or CQC registered addictions psychiatrist in private practice to ensure lawful treatment.
