Clinician Drug Advice UK

As experienced addictions clinicians we provide completely free Clinician Drug Advice UK to anyone. You could be a friend of someone caught up in the madness of addiction, a loved one, spouse colleague or employer.

We work in private rehabs, prisons, GP addiction shared care clinics, local authority and NHS commissioned services and prisons. As such we pool our knowledge so we can give honest, impartial, free and totally confidential advice that includes clinician drug expertise from the UK. Using an app, when you call, whomever is free will take your call, aside from our prison clinicians as they can not take phones to work!

Our advice is solely around what treatment someone may need, where they can access it and how much it is going to cost. We do this as we are concerned about the misinformation on the internet and those whose motivations are purely financial.

How Can a Clinician Advise Me?

As experienced addictions clinicians we have the training, qualifications, experience and knowledge to guide people through the process of seeking treatment in a low cost, effective environment. This is crucial when considering drug advice offered by clinicians familiar with UK practices, providing you with expert medical care and the therapy needed to get you to a place of abstinence and sobriety.

Addiction treatment has not changed much over the years: It doesn’t need to. While there have been some recent advances in medical care for addiction, the core elements remain the same. If it isn’t broken, why try and fix it?

The therapeutic approach in rehab is based on a group therapy approach. Every center, the world over, uses either a 12 step/SMART or eclectic mix. Additional/bolt on treatments such as gong baths and scream therapy will not do any harm, but you really don’t need them.

Having your shakra realigned, doing yoga with a goat and drinking organic green tea is an unnecessary cost with no actual benefits. Sure, it will make you feel better in the moment, but the real work in rehab is the therapy and it is hard work.

What Advice Can a Clinician Give Me?

While we don’t know you as well as your GP, with some simple questions we will be able to determine the type of treatment you will need. More importantly, we will be able to tell you what you don’t need. For example, some people don’t actually need a detox. Indeed, if you have one, when it isn’t needed, it is actually dangerous.

A detox is medication that works on receptors on the brain, the same receptors as alcohol and drugs.

If you don’t need a detox and have one it can be risky and lead to overdose. This is why you should avoid home detox companies who sell (illegally) pills in the post.

Before you commence a detox in a rehab center, you will be assessed by a clinician with drug advice expertise specific to UK standards. If there are no signs of withdrawal you do not need any medication. A pills in the post service can not do this so you put yourself at very serious risk.

In any event, you will be paying over £1,800 for £15 worth of pills. No medical oversight, no therapy, no fallback, no sense at all.

Even if a home detox was successful (and this would be very rare, indeed) without therapy you are likely to relapse: if not by the end of the first week than, usually, by the end of the second. It is akin to topping up on oil in your car when you have a serious oil leak.

Will Your Clinician Know Which Rehab To Signpost Me To?

Our expert addictions clinicians work in this sector. While they might not work in your local rehab, with our pooled knowledge, one of us will know all about local provision thanks to clinician drug advice sourced directly from UK practice. Not all rehab centers cater for all types of addiction.

Some centers can cater for all types of substance addiction whereas some are more alcohol focused. There are a few that are not able to provide treatment for heroin addiction.

While some offer a full hotel service with a chef and housekeepers, others are less formal and residents assist with preparing meals, etc. One or two centers have accommodation off site so severe alcohol dependency clients will not be suitable.

Is My Enquiry Confidential?

Absolutely: Yes! We go above and beyond the usual data handling requirements and are registered with the Information Commissioners Office. Without your expressed, written permission, we will never share any information, not even with your GP.

While we always recommend you involve your GP, we understand why this is not always your priority. A medical summary is available, without charge, from your practice admin team. Modern day NHS GP computer systems allow for this to be printed using a couple of keystrokes and is common for insurance companies, road accident claims, etc.
