24/7 Helpline

In 2021 Suffolk had 39 drug-related deaths, which was the highest number recorded since records began in 1993. For the East of England, these figures were the highest with the closest being Essex with 24. Statutory services and the National Drug Treatment Service information center suggest that this was due to an aging population of those dependent on drugs as well as increasing purity in the drugs being sold in the county.

For the last set of figures published in 2019, Suffolk had a total of 1,161 new clients seeking treatment from local statutory drug and alcohol services. Of that number 210 were parents who had children living with them.

The Public Health Institute at Liverpool John Moores University reports that the number of adults using crack in the county increased by 60% between 2014 and 2017: This was the highest percentage increase recorded anywhere in the UK. During this period, the number of adults, in Suffolk, using opioids increased by 77, while adults using crack rose from 654 to 1751.
