Hertfordshire

Figures for drug and alcohol use in Hertfordshire are difficult to obtain. However, historical information, over three years from 2015 to 2016, as a one-year snapshot of a decrease in numbers gives an interesting insight. In 2015, there were 4,114 adults in the county seeking help with alcohol dependency and a further 1,764 adults who sought help for both alcohol and non-opioid drug dependency. For those seeking help for non-opioid dependency, it was 1,277, and for opioids:5,762. 

The following year, these figures saw a downturn with 3,794 adults seeking help for alcohol and 1,522 for alcohol and non-opioid drugs with 1,077 seeking treatment for non-opioids only. Even the numbers seeking assistance for opioids alone dropped to 5,565. When part-year figures were published with significant reductions. 

In 2020, there were 50 deaths, recorded by a coroner, as having been attributed to drug and alcohol use within the county.  This showed a reduction of 12 from the previous year.
